Women make up 50% of the human race. They bring us into this world. They care for us. They deserve equal rights as their male counterparts. Women have caught up with men in terms of education and have helped in advancements across the world. Because women have only started working the same jobs as men since the 1950s, people have been accustomed to the ideology of women being housewives and men doing all the work outside the house, This nowadays, is not the case. Many women are smarter and more capable of doing work than some men but men still get chosen over them. Women do not get paid the same as men in the same workplace, women are limited in certain industries and overrepresented in others, and clearly, action needs to be taken by business …show more content…
Businesses tend to choose people that are great at what they do. Women are surpassing men in education and are overall the greater choice, But businesses sometimes do not choose women because they have other obligations. Some ways business can improve equality in the workplace is to listen to the problems and accept change. “It’s important to study our biases and quantify inequality, such as the work conducted here at Harvard, so that we can understand how to effect change” (Gender Inequality and Women in the Workplace). Making the workplace more integrated allows more ideas and ways of approaching things. Women think different then men so they bring a whole new level of experience to the table. “Make gender equality part of training and education. Young people should be supported in choosing jobs that are future-oriented and promising, regardless of their gender” (Trachsel). Women should not be biased towards certain industries. Companies should clearly state that they want to hire, support and promote women. Salaries and promotions should be monitored and evaluated on a regular basis to ensure equal treatment” (Trachsel). If companies treat men and women and alike, the companies will prosper much more because women would like to work allowing them to get a lot more finished. If companies offer support that people need, such as early dissmal so they can take care of their family. “Don’t limit your talent pool. Companies should aim for a 50-50 gender split in all their teams – right up to the executive floor. Offering practical support such as childcare, is part of this, as is the right attitude. It should not be a career killer for a man to ask for extended leave because he wants to look after his children” (Trachsel). It should not always be the woman who needs to take off of work for the kids. Men can do it too. Women not getting the same rights as men is a problem and there are ways businesses can help to merge the 2 genders together in the workplace. Women are a crucial part of mankind. They need the same rights as men. Women do not receive the same benefits as men, are heavily represented in a few industries, and businesses need to change their policies to give women equal rights.
