Gender Inequalities In The United States

Improved Essays
Both gender inequalities are a major part of discrimination in not only the country, but the entire world. The major roots of domestic violence were influenced by history power imbalances between women and men. Women are thought to “lack” power and control, while men are thought to be strong and fearful. Domestic Violence should be equally thought through. Violence against women/girls is thought to relate their powerless “social norms” as others may see men as the “powerful.” Most inequalities are based on people’s social, economic, cultural, and political rights (endawnow.org). These inequalities are what increase women’s risks of getting abused. Violence against all women is what helps lower the overall social statuses in society. Also 12 million men AND women have had the experiences in over a year (thehotline.org).
Women are not to be treated differently than men. Women shouldn’t be brought up to be treated like “the queen” while men are to be treated poorly. Men and women are to treat and be treated equally, not only as people, but in relationships also.
Women are as capable as men are. Not only in their thoughts but in their actions as well. People are wondering about the abilities of women daily. Domestic violence is just one of the many subjects the equalities are debated upon in society today. Politics, careers, and social ways are just some of the few subjects that are just as in equal as domestic violence is. For example, in politics, women are not thought to be the president. Also, minorities men and white men are payed more than minorities and white women.
Males are thought less of in certain subjects just as women are. Women and men should be equal in the world, relationships, careers, and socially. The world should be peaceful and equal in everything, especially

African American women are more vulnerable to domestic violence than White American women. Domestic violence is a physical, sexual, and economic abuse of power. Race, limited resources, and religious beliefs, are some factors for the cruel and violent treatment against Black women. “In 2011, the most recent year for which such data is available, black females were murdered by males at a rate of 2.61 per 100,000 in single victim/single offender incidents. For white women, the rate was 0.99 per 100,000” (Sugarmann, 2014).…

She was educated and had a successful career, but was held back by her husband who she was afraid of and he forced her to quite her job and stay at home. He was an angry man who erupted with every little thing she did and it even came to the point where he laid hands on her. She left him after that but not much after they got back together and I can still see that she's afraid of him no matter how hard she tries to hide it.…

Additionally, both gender differences and generational difference were also considered. For example, domestic violence can be seen as sexist as we always assume it is women who are being battered and we rarely consider males as well as same sex relationships. Similarly, we do not suspect the abuse of the elderly in particularly elderly women who are maybe seen as less desirable and are therefore underrepresented by society as domestic violence victims.…

Men are often expected to be assertive and dominant, while women are often portrayed as vulnerable and emotional. These gender roles suggest that men are more likely than women to turn to aggression during times of anger, which has correlation to abuse against their female partners (Campbell and Muncer 286). As a result of domestic violence, women often suffer from mental and health problems such as chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, eating disorders, diabetes, asthma, and if the abuse is severe enough, even death (Tremer). Although there are already certain programs and laws that exist to help women who have experienced domestic and sexual abuse such as the Violence Against Women Act, women’s rights activists work to change traditional gender roles, educate women on how to prevent or cope with abuse, and provide support groups for individuals and families that have been victimized by abuse (Zimmerman, et al.…

Women are considered to be a historically recognized minority group because they do not share the same power, privileges, rights, and opportunities as men. (Boundless) As an American woman I am aware of the treatment of women in today’s American society, and in this paper I shall look back at past accomplishments of women attempting to create fairness and freedom for women as a whole. It disturbs me that women who are victims of a crime do not go to court to report such crimes because of the way that the court treats women as if they may have “deserved” to be raped, beaten, or otherwise attacked by a male. In the United States, women have had less legal rights as men and have been treated as socially secondary and subordinate to men since…

In regards to the PDI, I would place myself in the middle of the continuum when I compare myself to my peers. Leaning towards the higher end of the PDI spectrum, I believe there will always be unequal levels of power and to some extent that is needed to help society operate more efficiently. It would be nice if everything could be equal and fair, but different people have different capabilities and some people are natural born leaders and can more effectively hold more power and direct others in their skillsets. Income distribution in society will be uneven because some jobs are harder or more stressful than others. Although, there should be a more equal distribution.…

In a perfect world, men and women would both be treated equally. Surprisingly enough that is far from the fact; on average, men are paid significantly more than the average woman. Why might this be? Women are surpassingly capable of what the average male can do in the work industry which leads no plausible reasoning behind these statistics. Women do everything a man does daily so why should they be forced to come home barley able to take care of her family financially as they are working their hardest.…

Feminism is a woman’s right towards anything social, political, and economic to men. As the decades have passed by, the fight for feminism still continues and will until women get their way. With gender equality becoming common in this day and age, females are becoming bored, as well as impatient, and began searching for further methods to bring about. The original intent of feminism has changed because it has turned to greed, power, sexism, and disrespect. Years ago, women had very little freedom.…

Men are strong and must always be strong. Men experienced more physical violence than women in the last twelve months but women also face rape and stalking (Mantel). Domestic violence is often down played because many don’t realize it is a crime. Mantel explores that the CDC found that reports of domestic abuse are almost even between men and women, “About 55 percent of the victims (6,982,000) were female and 45 percent were male (5,691,000).”…

Women And Equality In The Workplace Gender Equality is the most common issue which has come across at the workplace in which women are treated inferior than the other men employees. It has been noticed than women are being paid less than men, and there is a male-dominant crowd in the workplaces. For no reason women are set apart when they are equally intelligent as men. It is very casual that women are also capable of doing a particular job as men.
