Sexual harassment is defined as unwanted sexual requirements in the context of unequal power. Fifteen percent of lawyers revealed that judges encouraged improper behavior toward women attorneys. This is problematic and reveals that the legal system itself needs to be altered. Sexual harassment is one example that reveals there should be laws instituted to limit gender inequality. The author Brenner aims to explore the term gender inequality and pose solutions. By discussing this problem of inequality, Brenner desires to make women aware that they are being treated unfairly in the legal profession. When cases are reviewed by the Supreme Court they only examine cases that constitute a constitutional issue in society. The authors Corbin and John try to examine the constitutionality of employment and salary discrimination in the workforce. The goal of this study was to analyze court cases in relationship with the United States Constitution. There were two crucial Supreme Court cases that concerned these issues known as Young V. United Parcel Service, Inc. and Blackman V. Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. Within the Supreme Court case, Young V. United Parcel Service, Inc. it concerned the topic of employment discrimination. A women named Youhng worked for the United Parcel Service and was instructed by her doctor not to carry any items more than twenty pounds during her pregnancy. But her occupation required her to carry heavy packages. Thus, the company declared her disable because she did not possess the capabilities essential to complete her job. The justices ruled that it was not essential for employers to offer arrangements for pregnant women in order for them to remain working. In the United States Constitution this violated Title VII right to make accommodations for women pregnant. As the Supreme Court case of Blackman V. The author Davison focuses on the issue of wage gaps within the workforce. In 2009 the data shows that women receive only eighty-one percent of men’s salaries. The issue of women earning less is not only present in the legal profession, but in other areas such as: academic, management, and government positions. Even though the wage gap is a major issue that contributes to the job stratification in the legal profession, this study revealed that women have become content. The goal of this study is to explore why women are content with receiving lower income rates. Women are not likely to complain because they believe they deserve a low income rate. The Major’s Model is a sociological model used to define personal entitlement among individuals. Through the Major’s Model, the authors will analyze the habits of men and women workers to reveal their level of happiness. How an individual perceives money can have a positive or negative impact on the occupation they choose. Women are content with lower pay because they do not value money at a high standard. are thought to have a better sense of entitlement and respect for money, that women do not.
