I proudly say constantly “I’m a woman!” to be more precise “I’m a strong independent woman”. The reason behind this it’s because growing up I always felt that being a woman was a sign of weakness. However, over the years I learned that I should never see women as that, because females have shown to be very strong over the years. Both of my moms made sure that I never felt less just because I’m a woman and they did a good job. Most of my life I have felt 100% comfortable and happy with my gender, but it always bother me that women are seen in society as less compare to men. I’m not trying to be feminist with this song or trying to imply that girls have a superior power than men; I firmly believe that both should be equal. However, it is a very empowering song for me because it makes me see that I should never be ashamed of being a woman. I have amazing capabilities to do whatever guys do; my gender should never be a reason for someone to disrespect me in anyway or a reason to earn less money when successful. I have all the rights to make decisions about my body and how I want to dress. As annoying this song can be, it does makes women feel so empowerment to be who we are and not be ashamed of it.

9. Independent Women- Destiny’s Child
a. It’s very well known that men earn more money than women, although it should be a 50/50. As a woman, I’ve learned that I should never depend financially on a men or anyone in general. With only 20 years I’ve learned to be almost completely independent and I plan to keep it that way. Once again, my gender doesn’t define my dependence on others.
b. Favorite line: “Pay my own fun, oh, and I pay my own bills. Always 50/50 in relationships.”
