In todays society discrimination should not occur because we have been granted to the freedom of our own ideas by the Constitution of the United States. An individual that has judged you because you are doing something that they do not approve of personally can cause discrimination. Some categories of discrimination might be your ethnicity, sex, religion, or wealth. Back in the day men went to work to provide for their families while the women stayed home and took care of the housework. The main topic that stood out to me in Women Rights. Gender was a huge factor back in the days and today it may still occur being that the society doesn’t see a woman capable of becoming President. During World War II, many husband was sent to war, and women had no choice but to work in the field to provide for their families so this proves that a women can do a man job. Males and females are judged differently because of their physical appearance and strength, which makes inequality occur among gender. Our gender roles play an important part of our identity. Many people will treat you differently based upon their preferences, which includes how you act or what you do in society. In our society as women we must be strong individuals and stand our ground for what we believe is right to benefit us in the future. Boys and girls are separated by gender at birth, which follows into adulthood. Also the article states that “every human being is multicultural,” which I believe is true because everyone can relate to different culture or may have the same has the same. Liberal feminists (e.g., Friedan, 1983; Jaggar, 1983) claimed that gender equality in society could be achieved if women engage in actions that maintain their equality. I don’t believe this is try this statement mean that a women must compete with a man to earn her spot which is belittling a women and making her feel worthless. Women should be given the same opportunity as a man. Another point that was made in this article that had an impact was minorities. Harding (1987) similarly argued that feminist conservatism was not “welcoming to issues of race, class or cultural differences in women as subjects of knowledge” mostly stating that black women hard ships was not really took into consideration.
