Being a female myself, I have seen gender discrimination in many social situations, both at school and home. Girls are constantly undermined in society. They are told that they cannot play sports with boys, that they are too weak to go to the gym and are called attention seeking when hanging out with guys. However, gender discrimination actually goes way past being social constraints. Gender discrimination has made its way into the work place, churches and even our homes. A study conducted shows that 1 in 2 mothers reported experiencing workplace discrimination as a result of their pregnancy or parental leave while 1 in 5 mothers indicated that they were made redundant, dismissed or that their contract was not renewed. These women are working so hard as mothers, taking care of their children while trying to work a job and being discriminated against.
