Gender Equality : Gender Inequality Essay

Like many other social problems, Gender Equality happens across the board in American society. It is a problem that is known to have a negative impact in America. Gender equality is “Gender equality is achieved when women and men enjoy the same rights and opportunities across all sectors of society, including economic participation and decision-making, and when the different behaviours, aspirations and needs of women and men are equally valued and favoured” (Gender Equality: what is gender equality?). By definition, Gender Inequality is unequal treatment of individuals based on their gender. Gender inequality goes a long way. There are many places in which gender inequality can be identified. Two of which are more common in family and a workplace, but I can also be found at school and even when it comes to wages.

Women’s Rights
Women in the late 19th century fought to end discrimination. A lot has improved since the fight to end discrimination has started. Women, till this day, are still looked down upon while the majority of men still have power. Many believe that women should not be in high powered positions. For man in high power positions, believe that women cannot handle the pressure working at a high demand. Men view women as weak. But others consider women to take on a more traditional role and not go to work, such as staying home to take care of the family and do house chores.
