Gender Equality and Feminism
In America, the prevalence of gender inequality goes primarily ignored. The few who do speak out are criticized, sometimes called ‘feminazis’, as though calling someone out on being sexist aligns you with murderers and committers of genocide and atrocities. People who are proudly feminists receive eye rolls and are called ‘chauvinistic’. Feminism, by definition, is “the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes” (Merriam-Webster).
