Gender Discrimination In The United States

We cannot pretend that the man who has the nuclear codes is not hateful to a large group of people in the United States. We must acknowledge that Mr. Trump does have some form of contempt towards women and on some level, he is a sexist. Many women did vote for him but that does not change the fact that we, as women, cannot be allowed to be treated this way by a man who is supposed to protect all of our rights as equal. Women have been categorized to one box for a long time and it is time to step out and be whatever we want, and the president of the United States should be able to show this kind of respect. “We, the people…” means everyone in the United States. During the sexual harassment inducement that Trump has been accused of: the teenage …show more content…
The kept picture of an employee who is overweight. Obviously, he denied this but what would this woman gain from lying? This is her own physical appearance that he is judging. Many women hate their own physical appearance because of actions like this. What gives him the right to treat his employee like that? The President of the United States bought a beauty pageant contest and made a crude comment about how these models are not intelligent which is a very crude and disrespectful comment to say about these young women. This is very offensive because he generalized them into one category because they are models then they do not have the ability to be intelligent. He degraded women’s appearances and made it seem again as locker room talk. He made it seem like it was just two guys having a laugh about chicks they have nailed in the past. Donald Trump criticizing the menstrual cycle. He is criticizing a very natural aspect of a woman’s life because it was an inconvenience for him since it got on the way of his own needs and pleasure. Mr. Trump is criticizing pregnancy because he feels sympathy towards employers not the women who are doing a very amazing and impressive

“There I was, getting ready to argue my very first contested case, and it's before the United States Supreme Court. I'll never forget the morning of oral arguments. I got up really early and headed over to put the last touches on my argument. There was a sense of majesty, walking up those stairs, my steps echoing on the marble. I went to the lawyers' lounge — to go over my argument.…

Politically we live in a quite polarizing time. Between the two viable presidential candidates and an equal amount of dissatisfaction of those candidates on both sides, the fate of this country is seemingly up in the air. Though the election holds a discernable amount of media coverage and attention of the public every term the media coverage of this particular election has been dominated by the hateful rhetoric and call to violence of a particular candidate. The candidate calling for this violence is Donald Trump, he on multiple occasions has called for violence against protesters telling his audience how he would like to see them “punched or maimed”. Encouraging his supporters to do so by promising to cover their legal fees if they get arrested…

Today, I read the article “Daughters and Trumps” written by Frank Bruni. I chose this article because it seemed interesting. It also had a man’s point of view of Donald Trump’s actions in the video posted on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The article is about how multiple men are reacting towards Trump’s comments in the posted video. People are very “appalled by Donald Trump’s comments about groping women”.…

Just one year prior, the same Congress had passed the Equal Pay Act of 1963, which prohibited wage differentials based on sex. The prohibition on sex discrimination was added to the Civil Rights Act by Howard W. Smith, a powerful Virginia Democrat who chaired the House Rules Committee and who strongly opposed the legislation. Smith's amendment was passed by a teller vote of 168 to 133. Historians debate Smith's motivation, whether it was a cynical attempt to defeat the bill by someone opposed to both civil rights for blacks and women, or an attempt to support their rights by broadening the bill to include women.[23][24][25][26] Smith expected that Republicans, who had included equal rights for women in their party's platform since 1944, would…

No words can fully capture the horror, disgust, and anxiety I feel concerning the results of the election that just took place. I am disappointed in my fellow Americans and feel short-changed by the democracy we live in. Trump is a figure who represents every negative facet of modern America. On countless occasions, he has proven to be racist, sexist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, ableist, and misogynistic. He is reckless and callous with his speech, and his behavior is simply disturbing.…

Recently during the Presidential debate, the Republican candidate by the name of Donald Trump was questioned about a tweet that was made in 2013. He expands on the tweet that he made by making the ignorant statement “What did the geniuses expect when they put women and men together?” Many were outraged by his comment, for many reasons. For example, we question how he is able to make a statement like such when his facts are incorrect. My 2nd argument is that Donald Trump’s first 100 days in presidency have been detrimental to the status of women’s health and women’s rights. I will begin by mentioning Trump’s previous history with women, where several sexual assault claims were made against him and are still pending. Aside from these assault claims, there have been been incidents in which Trump has degraded women by calling them “dogs, gold diggers, bimbos, ugly, fat, miss piggy” and more. This being said, Trump also stated and I quote “26,000 unreported sexual assaults in the military-only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?”…

Women’s rights have come a long way in the last century and still have a long way to come. Donald Trump is notorious for his incendiary comments and actions toward women, one such example of this occurred in his 1994 interview with ABC News: “I think that putting a wife to work is a very dangerous thing. Unfortunately, after they're a star, the fun is over for me. It's like a creation process. It's almost like creating a building.…
