Gender Differences In Hookups

1. In the answer to this question I will use a gender lens to describe the differences in orgasms rates and types of oral sex in hookups and relationships. Orgasm rates in hookups are lower for women and higher for men. If a hookup occurs more than once the orgasm rate for women increases especially if the hookups happen more than three times, with this increase in women’s orgasm rates men’s orgasm rates are still higher. The reason that orgasm rates increase with repeat hookups is because the couple gets to know what will turn each other on. When comparing orgasm rates to hookups and relationships, relationships have the highest orgasms rates. Men still have higher orgasm rates in relationships but, the orgasm rates for men and women are closer …show more content…
In answer to this question, I will use conflict theory, in the social structure of gender, to understand the distribution of power in purity balls. The definition of conflict theory is looking at society as a system of limited power. Groups in society are trying to get more power. In conflict theory, you have owners and workers, owners have the most power and workers have the least power. When using conflict theory in the social structure of gender you find that the males are the owners and the females are the workers. Relating conflict theory to purity balls, in the social structure of gender, the fathers are the owners and the daughters are the workers. The reason the fathers are the owners in purity balls is because when the daughters pledge their virginity to their father and future husbands they are letting the fathers control their power over their bodies. Another reason the fathers are owners is because they are the head of the house hold and protectors of the family. Daughters are the workers in purity balls because when they pledge to remain virgins until marriage the daughters are giving up their power over their bodies to their fathers. Purity balls follow the idea of a nuclear family where the fathers are the controllers of power in the …show more content…
In answer to this question, I will summarize Coontz’s proposal to change marriage, summarize why this will change divorce rates, and describe how I will use this information for my future family. Stephanie Coontz thinks that society should not view marriage as the place where a couple will get all their emotional wants and needs from each other. The married couple should look for relationships outside of their marriage and spread their emotional wants and needs to other relationships. It will put a lot of stress on the marriage if you view your partner as your lover and your only friend. With following Coontz’s proposal, this should reduce divorce rates because there won’t be high emotional expectations from the marriage. Relaying some of the emotional wants and need to other relationships will alleviate stress from the martial relationship. I will use this information from Coontz’s in my future relationships and marriage. I can see that a lot of extra stress can be added on a relationship if you expect to get all your emotional wants and needs from one person. When I’m in a committed relationship I will look out for new friendships and try to keep ones open that I already have. I will try to remind myself that I shouldn’t look at my partner as my one and only friend

Celeste was hooking up with twelve different men and was having intercourse with five of them, yet she never achieved an orgasm like all of her encounters had. Divorce, which used to be a taboo and a sign of failure in the 1950 's, is now common, speculated at 50%. Women also have an array of lifelines and services that enable them to make decision about their marriage and family. Such as gynecologists, rape services, and domestic violence centers. Along with the internal aspect of a marriage being switched from a private to a public part of married life, the social expectations of entering marriage have, to put it simply, switched. If the couple chooses to live together as an alternative to being married like the statistics show that the relationship will break up within five years is 49 percent (Redmond, “Divorce Statistics…”).
