Gender Construction

Whose Lady Macbeth to tell Macbeth to be more manly? Macbeth is the one killing people and she is the one giving commands. When did a society like this come into the world? Since the world first started it has been the man with the upper hand. The man is the one of takes care of business. “Its the man who is the leader of the family.” “A true man respects his wife and family, but he must get respect back.” An attribute that is stereotypical with men is respect.
There’s a common thought that its normally the women in the family who stay home and take care of the kids, cook the meals, and clean the houses. The man is the one who is supposed to be out in the

When other men see this, they see the man as more powerful and think more highly of him. Therefore, the more girls a guy can get with, the more respect he gets as time goes on. Well then its always a constant debate of why can’t women do this. If women get with multiple guys they come across as “easy.” Men then call them “skanks” or “trashy” because no one wants to be with a girl like that. It brings down their human value when they have been with multiple people. It’s always the “more powerful men who get sex.” This is true almost anywhere. Girls look at movie actors or professional athletes and say, “I would get with him.” Truly though the girls don’t even know the guy. They don 't know if he is a good or bad person, or his personality. This is true even in high school. I know most of the girls would rather date the high school quarterback then the lead band …show more content…
“A girl could be perfect for you but if she is taller, no way!” A man is supposed to be the superior one in the relationship and “the one who wears the pants.” “Men have genetically been the stronger ones.” When a man dates a taller girl its embarrassing for him. I really do get where society is coming from. Traditionally it has been the man with more power. I really think this is wrong though. Who cares if someone is taller than you. You should not be with someone based off of their height. You should be with someone because you love them and enjoy their presence. I have never seen a guy in my life dating a girl taller than him though. This is simply because all the guys would lose respect for him, and maybe he would even lose respect for himself. Girls traditionally go after the taller men. “They want to feel protected by a superior half.” Dating someone smaller than them can take this away. I think it’s wrong but this is how society views

This is why it is usually very hard for men and women to really become close friends without any romance being involved. “Research suggests that gender differences in how men and women experience opposite-sex friendships. Men consistently overestimated the level of attraction felt by their female friends and women consistently underestimated the level of attraction felt by their male friends.” (Ward, 2012) There is a common misconception amongst society members when it comes to women and the way they dress. Many believe that if a woman is…

For many years, it was women, and now it is men. Al Amrani says it in terms of “stripping men of their historical superiority,” (Amrani). The difference is that men are seen through society’s eyes to be the more capable sex- so this sudden shift shouldn’t be anything they can’t handle. If it were women, many would be rushing to their…

Men at the top of the hierarchy are resistant to give up any of the rewards they may receive from gender inequality. Not only do men want to hold onto their privilege, women might not even see it. Female socialized people often don’t see how much they are being devalued because they have seen it all their lives and are so…

The main difference between men and women in this category is mental and physical. A man will always want to look like he is the higher power while the woman actually wants to be the higher power. A woman will let her man have his hierarchy fun in front of his friend and family, but behind the scenes, they both know how it is going to go. As the famed Steve Harvey once said, “Act like a woman, and think like a man.” Once again, the woman is more dominant in this situation, but the man thinks he is, so people just let the truth hide. No use in spoiling that bit of fun for…

They can expect the world for what it is and just have fun. She also says that it is more likely for women to be chubbier than men because men ultimately lift harder objects than women because men are supposed to be stronger. Which is why men are more prone to one day committing suicide because they never have to show their weak side when one day they feel like they just can’t take it anymore. Most women are scared to just end their lives but in other terms they are also the most brave. Women are brave because they would much rather be upset and try to continue on in life then inflict harm on themselves because they are to scared to…

As it is very common in today’s generation for women to get temporary lip, and nose lifting fillers. I believe it is unacceptable for our society to lose respect towards women and to use them as a platform to make money off of. In comparison, men have it easier as they are viewed and judged upon their actions. For instance if a man treats a woman well he is a gentleman, if he doesn’t treat a woman well he is viewed as an ill-mannered human. Another huge example is Kylie Jenner.…

The media gives the impression that life is full of men with a variety of sense of crisis, a single woman of nervousness and can not be due diligence of professional mothers. Postmodernists often disagree with this culture of gender discrimination. They think that we are in the age of equality between men and women, fashionable pop culture just for entertainment - "sounds like some aggressive, but does not mean that gender discrimination.” Whelehan pointed out that this view is wrong! Because of this "entertainment only" environment, attitude and language, has become part of our daily lives. Women are in fact unknowingly victims of this culture, which reflects the role of women in today 's society, which means that there is still widespread gender discrimination in society.…

Most male prostitutes that do partake in the trade, regardless of their willingness and consent to work, have been stereotyped as weak victims of overpowering, more dominant men. They are not seen as consenting male sex workers and are instead seen as “ignorant” men that have fallen victim to the more superior, older men. Those who argue that men and women still do not have equal rights in modern society would also agree…

It makes many not want to be known as a feminist and thus weakening the feminist movement. Still today many women are very interested in what men think and say about them, and so women do not want themselves to be seen as unattractive because they stand up for what they believe in. The second thing this stereotype does is makes women weaker as a people. They allow men to think what they want and they are so moved by it that they don’t want to speak up, thus giving them that power they crave. This then makes men feel stronger, and puts down females even more.…

Many TV shows tend to show us that the popular, rude females always get together with the cute jock, and the nerdy, friendly girl no one even cares for. This shows that guys don’t get together with someone for their personality, but rather for their looks. It’s difficult for people to understand what another person’s wants and needs are. There’s many reasons as to why men act out in a dominant way, one of the reasons consisting of when women don’t act a certain way to please them, especially when they fight back. Although this helps sometimes, other times the men get abusive and start mistreating women and abusing them.…
