Church has never been an uncommon thing in my life and it was really easy for myself to feel comfortable with in the environment. Not once did I care to understand what was exactly going on around me during those moments in my life. I was very young and innocent to a lot of things. When I entered high school I stopped going to small group at the popular church I was attending. In high school I met a small group of good Christian people who would turn out to be my best friends. We were all very unique and a lot of the kids around school who also had participated in the “mega church” as well didn’t particularly like us because we were different. A lot of people would judge us for things we wore, some of our sexual preferences, and things we enjoyed doing that weren’t necessarily the social norm for our genders. But through it all my friends would never return fire on their snarky remarks, they just kind of accepted them, smiled, and then continued on with what they were doing. At the end of the day I think it all really boils down to is the fact that conforming to these views helps people fill one step closer to “paradise” and equal “peace” because they feel as if since everyone can be on the same page as themselves they will all have the same motives and types of life styles that way it is much easier to have people supporting you, giving you confidence, and to have hope for a place where all there time of longing for no worries and riches will be fulfilled. They are scared to look past the fact that life is much more than just trying to make it by and be the most well off. Because that’s all they have ever known. So far humans haven’t been able to create a Utopian society. Any attempt has without a doubt failed and as much as we wish there could be a perfect world with equality and complete happiness there most likely never will be. No one thinks the same way. In order for a perfect world to work everyone would have to rationalize and process things in their head the same way. But as I said that’s not the case. So as long as we are on earth we are stuck with both good and evil ways whether we like it or not. But that doesn’t mean we should give up on a peace and the idea of equality between human beings.
