The Importance Of Learning With A Teacher

“Spoon feeding in the long run teaches us nothing but the shape of the spoon.” (Forster, 2016) This quote states that learning with a teacher may not be beneficial in the long term. In our society learning is always based on what a teacher teaches us. We don’t learn anything exactly what should be learned, but the things that a teacher wants us to learn. Everything is prepared beforehand by the teachers and the students accept that without any efforts made. The trend about learning with a guide has been going on for generations to generations but I don’t agree that a teacher is always necessary to learn something. A person can develop their skills and knowledge through different ways. In order to develop the knowledge one must be self-involved in learning new things rather than being dependent on a teacher. Is it possible to find a teacher for learning something that only fit personal interest? It’s hard as a teacher might not be able to make you learn everything you want. In fact, the teachers make you learn what they want. It is not always correct that a person can learn everything with the teacher because teacher is just a guide, just a mentor. Learning does not revolve around the teacher itself. They need to learn themselves. The use of technology cannot easily replace the human teachers but the use of computers in learning is growing day by day. The students can involve themselves in research studies, find their resources to learn, self-study and make notes themselves. The fact that a guide facilitates easy and supervised learning is undeniable. But if a learner makes a mistake by doing the task on his own, he tries again, he does the thing right ultimately being based on his experiences of failure.
