The fact Nyasha is not obedient woman or child and stands up to her father and it causes her father to be anger. For her brother, Chido, knows to be silent and not talk back, as does her mother. Nervous Conditions is a powering novel that show the hardship of African at the time it is written in. It shows the courage of a young girl who wants an education despite the lack of support from her father and brother, and the lack of money. The courage that another girl has to stand up to her father, even though woman are taught to be obedient towards the men. It shows the class difference between one large family.
