Statement of Award Geico Life Scholarship

After my senior, I realize that an honor student surpasses the mere mastery of academic subjects. Yet, during for years, I have embarked myself in a solitary confinement where a cubicle, a laptop, books and reading glasses have become my regular companions. Fortunately, the hard-work pays off every semester with a higher GPA than the prior, which puts a grin on my face and returns the heart to a steadfast beating. From passing every single course to honors seminar and last achieve a cum laudem status on my transcript are part of my transition in academia toward a professional career. Nonchalantly, after a meeting with Queens College’s Golden Key club’s committee, I decided to apply in order to become a e-board member. Within the next two weeks, I received an email saying that I was welcome aboard. Without ever participating actively in any organizations on campus in four years and not confidence of my qualification for the position, I joined. Today, I am proud I did because the learning experience transients most of my beloved professors’ lectures. They, Golden Key Members, teach me in each event that Care should be the core of our education. Likewise, Italo Calvino explores the Invisible places of cities, I’ve got to embrace the other face of college: helping the community and supporting strangers. The first time I learned this lesson was at a senior center. There, we created Saint Valentine cards. Yet, they implanted a new heart that celebrates friendship and volunteerism. At the same place, I recognized that a piece of construction paper can transform a person:
