I deserve a Geico Achievement Award because I am a goal-oriented student who turns every possible opportunity into a learning experience that will prepare me for a successful future. In addition to my academic achievements, I am also a tutor on campus, using my academic successes to give back to students who are in need of assistance. To continue developing professionally outside of the classroom, I joined the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi, which is a business fraternity dedicated to developing professionalism in young men and women.
In recognition of my academic dedication since coming to the University of Iowa, I have been named to the Dean’s list each semester of my enrollment, and received President’s list recognition in the spring of 2018. Following my freshman year, I was approached by the assistant director for student success at the University of Iowa, and was offered a job as a Tippie Learning Coach based on my academic performance in the introductory level economics classes. Tippie Learning Coaches are a free academic support resource on campus for individual students and small groups enrolled in a number of introductory level business courses. In addition to this role, I am also a registered private tutor in all introductory economics courses and calculus for business. Helping other students reach their academic goals is powerful, because it serves as a reminder that not every student has the same learning abilities, but everyone wants to excel academically. Using my academic strengths to empower my peers to excel in their courses, unlocking their potential and allowing them to continue giving back to the
