1 the power distance differences between Denmark and Belgium are apparent. If Svansø would enter the Belgian market, the first national challenge would be the work of subordinates. In Denmark there is a high employee autonomy but in Belgium employees are used to do what they are told to do. Other very important fact to consider are the income differences. In Denmark we can say that everybody can afford the same due to the low income differences through society, in Belgium the income differences can be enormous, and that may strongly affect sales of new product on Belgian market.
Individualism
Denmark, same as Belgium has a high degree of individualism (Figure no. 1). That means in both nations self-image of every individual is defined in terms of “I”. Everybody is taking care only of themselves and their closest families. When it comes to business collaboration is based on contract, before contract small talk is completely enough, there is no need for creating relationships first (low-context communication). In this dimension would be very easy for Svansø to expand to Belgium, because when it comes to individualism they are in the same boat.
