Have you ever pitched in baseball? If you have you know it would be beneficial if you could put something on your fingers to get a better grip on the ball, however the MLB doesn't think so they have been against gripping substances since they banned the spitball in 1920.Gripping substances should be available for MLB pitchers because the majority of batters are receptive to the idea, less batters might get hit by a pitch, and since the majority of pitchers use a substance it is difficult to punish all of the players. This year Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago Cubs was hit by 20 pitches one of them breaking his finger and getting himself a spot on the injured reserve. He is on pace to get hit by 53 pitches this year. Since this adhesive is not sticky like glue and instead uses Van der Waals force to cling items together, a suit for humans or even a rover could be developed with the Gecko Gripper used to climb mountains, caves, or any other risky terrain for exploration. While the other choices also had potential for improved efficiency in space exploration, the Gecko Gripper to me had the most potential and promise for the future. They like us but to an even larger extent focus on the operational environment for the helmet not only the head by the regulations and necessary forces to withstand.
