First Minister of the reconstituted Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) Jinn walks across the stage and assumes her place behind the podium, leaning ever-so-slightly closer to the microphone. It has been 25 years since humanity bested the Locust threat, and some semblance of peace and stability has finally returned to the capital of New Ephyra. Jinn knows all too well what the price of this feeling of ease and safety has been, and continues to be. She gazes out on the enthusiastic crowd cheering for her and the COG veterans seated behind her. At the sight of some of their young, exuberant faces, Jinn contemplates how some of them has never known war - which would have been a foreign concept just a few short years ago. However, unlike its predecessors, Gears of War 4's cast are a combination of awol COG soldiers and outsiders - people opting to live outside of COG jurisdiction in locally governed settlements. Throughout the duration of Gears of War 4, The Coalition impressed me with how they led JD, Kait, Del and the rotating fourth chair through a myriad of unique locales, ensuring that the campaign never became stale or overly similar. Gears of War 4 starts with the cast of characters descending upon an abandoned COG facility in order to retrieve a fabricator for an outsider settlement; from there, The Coalition introduces new antagonists, motivations, and objectives in an organic - if a bit heavy-handed occasionally -
