Gcu Student Motivation

Decent Essays
What motivated me to become a GCU student was my mother, she pushed me to enroll into online schooling I did not plane on attending college until 2018. After high school, I wanted to join the work force for a year then further my education later in life but my mother had better plans for me and I’m very thankful for her pushing me to start school. Furthermore, I find motivation very important when it comes to a student being successful, yes, a student can push and motivate themselves, never the less, self-motivation is very important, however, everyone needs an extra push students lack self-confidence when they do not have anyone by their side giving them motivation everyone needs. Motivation is the desire that makes people want to succeed

My main incentive for continuing my education is to finally be able to say that I am a college graduate. I have been going to school on and off for several years and now I am in a position to just concentrate on finishing this degree. I am a very competitive person and have the need to achieve this milestone rather than have the feeling that I have failed at it (Bendig & Stillman, 1958). I am semi-retired and most likely will not be using this degree to further my career. I will most likely be moving on to start my graduate degree after graduation.…

The thing that motivates me most to pursue a college degree is the fact that I have put this off for far too long. Many of my peers are already done with or are starting their Master’s degrees. I really have no legitimate excuse as to why I’ve put this on the back burner. I was just having fun enjoying life, I guess. My Motivation: What motivates me the most to pursue a college degree is that I will be the first person in my family to receive one. My grandmother is the backbone behind this motivation because she was always making sure that academics came first in my life. There was rarely a day that I would come home and she would not ask me questions about my homework, asking what I learned in school, or even looked over my homework. As I got older, she made sure I was a part of a college prep program called AVID from 6th-12th grade and that definitely made a difference for me. It helped me understand the importance of continuing your education and how beneficial it can be to succeeding in life.…

    College Students Mindset

According to Frank Daley, most students entering, or currently attending college, do not know why they are attending (2). With no goal or direction, students are lost and have no reason to believe that they need to do well in school or even attend at all. Moreover, “the lack of direction”, according to Daley, will cause students to divert their focus on several agendas and lead to more problems (2). For instance, students who do not know whether they should spend more time at school, socializing, or working will eventually develop time-management issues and procrastination, leading to the degradation of one or more of the categories listed (Daley, 3). Students who do not have a goal-oriented motivation, or intrinsic motivation, before they enter a higher education tend to have a much greater difficulty in school and could potentially lead to dropping…
