I. Gayle Tzemach graduated college and went on to have a successful career as a reporter. She was a reporter for ABC news and she worked hard in that career until she was thirty years old. After that she left to go to business school. She is now an author who writes about woman involved in conflict and how they are survivors. She is passionate about woman who own their own businesses despite the tragedy they have grown up in. Tzemach travels all over the world meeting different entrepreneurs. She ties her experiences to her knowledge of economics and finance. She is inspired by these strong women. Tzemach was lucky enough to grow up with strong woman who supported her. Tzemach’s mom was single mother who worked two jobs so that she could provide …show more content…
I wished Tzemach would have talked more about her book and the connection that she briefly mentioned between woman entrepreneurs during and post conflict. She talked about a few women who were involved in conflict but not as much about how the conflict affected them or how the conflict changed their business. For example, how did the lady selling chocolate change from her war experience. Also how did this affect her entrepreneurial spirit. I disagreed with any business woman or male owned coming and asking for help from the government. I feel that their product should speak for itself and if it cannot survive then it makes way for a better and superior product. Later she clarified that the chocolate woman was not asking for a handout but I am not sure about in her other parts. I would like to have heard more details about Tzemach’s success after going to business school and giving up her career as a reporter. I think her success is implied in her stories about her articles and travels. However, I would like to know more specifically how she is doing and if she is happy with her decision and has overcome her own doubt. She talks a lot about how woman need to have confidence and I would like to have seen more of her own confidence come out. Maybe she just was not comfortable bragging but I think she is definitely one of those powerful woman to look up to. She should give herself some

“Climbing The Golden Arches” is an essay written by Marissa Nuñez published originally in New Youth Connections, republished in The Norton Sampler. The main idea of this essay is that although the road to a successful career is fraught with hardships, it can be overcome with hard work and determination. At the beginning of the essay, Nuñez describes a scene in which she and her cousin went to eat at McDonald’s and decided to try out for a job there out of curiosity. They filed their applications and about a month later had their job interviews in which both passed.
