Pros And Cons Of Homosexual Adoption

“Family Don’t End With Blood, But it Doesn 't Start There Either.” Adoption is a wonderful thing in this world, it allows children to have loving homes and caring parents that otherwise would be stuck in foster care. America, the land of the free and the home of the brave; all citizens here have rights. Time progresses and as a country America is taking steps to ensure that everyone has equal rights; this includes the rights of women and of the LGBT community. Equality among all citizens in America is not yet accomplished; lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people all face obstacles in their lives. Homosexual couples should be able to adopt children because of theological, physiological, and political points. The main reason …show more content…
Accepting gay couples in society would give chances to thousands of foster kids to have two loving parents that would otherwise not be able to have children. In 2009 there was a survey done over the number of children living in households where the parents were homosexual, it showed “that there are 250,000 children in the United States living with gay and lesbian parents, according to Lambda Legal, a national organization dedicated to protecting the rights of the LGBT community,” (Sioco). That means that the majority of those kids would otherwise be in foster care and wouldn 't have loving parents, even if they are a homosexual couple, to love and take care of them. Another main thing that is believed as to why gays and lesbians should not be able to adopt children is that the children living in these households will grow up to be gay. That is certainly not the case, “It 's like comparing it to if a black couple adopts a white child, will that child then become black?” (Ratliff). The obvious answer there is no, Jennifer Ratliff also says “the only difference is there 's two men in bed at night instead of a man and a woman.” Just because lesbian and gay couples aren’t normal doesn’t mean people should be prejudice against them. It 's not their fault that they can 't have children together in their relationship but that isn’t going to …show more content…
Denying the rights to a couple of the same sex is to deny them of a fundamental freedom. Not only does it violate the rights of homosexuals, it takes away their sense of security and belonging. There are many challenges that people in the LGBT community face throughout their lives, such as bullying, blackmail, and threats by other people. Then these issues become a problem of the law when the problems lead to things such as assisted suicide and even murder. “In 2011 David Kato, a prominent Ugandan campaigner for gay people 's rights, was murdered after a tabloid newspaper published his picture, along with those of 99 other homosexuals,” (Tainting love; Gay people’s rights). Everyone in America is supposed to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. When denying homosexual couples to adopt children, those rights are being taken away from them. They can 't pursue happiness because what would make them happy they are being told they can 't have. Liberty is also taken away from them because they aren’t free in public, society tells them that they can 't be who they are without being constantly put down for that. Not just those two rights are taken away sometimes, like in the case of David Kato and many others, even their lives are taken. Not allowing homosexual couples to adopt children is a political issue because it takes away their

But further than this homosexuals have a good reason that if they were legal then the number of children who got adopted every year would go up. (3) Since homosexuals obviously can’t have their own kids they have to have a backup plan, and the easiest way for them would be to adopt. Even though many places won’t let you adopt unless you have a mother and a father, if gays were legal, they would likely be forced to change this rule also which would start up a whole new argument. But anyways if homosexuals were allowed to adopt the children who are without homes that would help get the kids a home, no matter how solid that home is. This is important to get all kids home even though the kids will still have parents of the same sex.…

An estimated 100,000 kids linger in foster care centers around the United States. Same-sex couples are dominating a large portion of the population that hope to adopt, but still continue to face many obstacles on their quest to do so. Because the Supreme Court voted to make gay marriage legal nationwide in 2015, this aids in same-sex couples being allowed to adopt from foster care agencies instead of through private, gay-friendly adoption agencies. However, homosexual couples continue to face difficulties in adopting in states that have laws to limit joint adoption to a husband and wife (Beitsch). Research shows evidence that gay and lesbian couples are more likely to adopt foster care children that typically belong to groups that are least likely to get adopted.…

Maybe even why shouldn’t they adopt, is it because the way people might think a child will feel or about it or is it just society judging another way that people are living their lives? The answer on my opinion is that they should be able to adopt. The way that I think about it look at how many children are getting taken out of the system, look at how many children are going to have families and really look at how many lives lesbians and gays are saving just by the fact that they actually want to have kids. So bottomline of the matter is that they can’t accidentally have child, this child is planned and wanted. I don 't believe if children are raised correctly, then he/she will come out any less fine than any other child raised in America, regardless of their parents sexual orientation.…

Adoption is the process of providing families with a child that can no longer be raised by their biological parents.…
