He stated that this self-centered approach to marriage will only further weaken the culture which is already battered by divorce across this country. Those to be most grossly affected are the children and young adults, both who desperately need the solid foundation and security which heterosexual marriage affords. Some would argue in their promotion of gay marriage that children raised by same-sex couples do just as well as those raised by a mother and a father. In reality, children who are raised by same-sex couples face ridicule. Children are created to need the masculine and feminine role models in their life in order for them to have security and stability. If two homosexuals are granted the legal rights of marriage, what is to stop another person from seeking to obtain the constitutional right to marry an animal? Bigamy, polyandry, polygamy, and other deviant forms of “marriage” will no longer be taboo, but may become possibilities for those who seek to gratify the flesh.
Undeniably, regardless of the debate over whether gay marriage should be legalized or not, we must treat the people with opposing beliefs with dignity and civility. This, however, does not warrant changing the Constitution to make homosexual marriage a part of the supreme law of our land. In conclusion, gay marriage should not become a constitutional right because it is condemned in the Bible, it has a negative effect on children, and it twists the meaning of what marriage was intended to
