Many Americans are raised with the idea of marriage being something you do when you genuinely love another person. Without any other thought young adults will marry another based only on the belief that they are “in love”. Yet within a year or two the same couple that’s “in love” will divorce. Just as quickly as they go in they rush out with a divorce, and in doing so break the very foundation of what marriage is meant for. Whether it is cause from lying, cheating, or simply “falling out of love” they damage their own future, and their own children. Most americans, young or old are all guilty of doing so. Which brings up the main problem of government being involved in the private parts of American lives. There is no need for government to define or classify any one American unless it is genuinely hurting others or taking away others rights. The idea of classifying American citizens, which happen to be homosexuals, as a social problem is the equivalent of the “social problems” Americans had with African Americans in the 1950s. Though lets not forget when we mention the government who we’re really talking about is people. So in a way Reyes is requesting we let people decide who to classify. She’s advocating we call it a “social problem”, but what is this “problem”? She’s calling homosexuality the problem, but in reality there is none. Homosexuality is no more a problem that a persons skin; in which case is no problem at all. Reyes is wrong in thinking homosexuality requires government intervention to tell us that it’s a “social problem”, or that homosexuality is a problem at
