Due to the fact that homosexuals can not have children of their own, they have no choice but to adopt. There are about 400,000 children in the United States alone today without a family, and there is no better couple to adopt them than ones who can not have children. “Out of the households with adopted children in the U.S., 4.4 percent are adopted by married opposite-sex couples, 5.2 percent by unmarried opposite-sex couples, and 21.2 percent by same-sex couples.” (LGBT). This clearly shows that homosexual couples adopt more children than heterosexual couples. Putting the adoption rates to the side, gay couples also have been proven to raise their children to be happier than opposite-sex couples. “On average, children raised by same-sex couples scored 6 percent higher than the general population when it came to general health and family cohesion.” (Wong). Nobody would appriciate being told they couldnt get married, no matter sexual preference. “Indeed, in the words of Martin Luther King Jr., “When any society says that I cannot marry a certain person, that society has cut off a segment of my freedom.”” (Listed). It is just rotten to strip somebody of their natural rights. It is also discrimination! “Anti-same sex marriage laws and bans don’t just disadvantage couples who wish to marry, but they discriminate against members of the LGBT community as well.” (Listed).
