Recent studies show that HIV diagnoses in connection with gay and bisexual males aged between fifteen and twenty-four have doubled in the last decade. The rise in numbers must indicate something, perhaps it’s because of the inadequate lessons on sex in school, in many cases (three-quarters) same-sex relationship is a topic which is failed to be discussed at all. Lord Norman Fowler is very passionate about making a change to this. In the “Boys who like Boys” publication, he goes on to state, “We are missing a key opportunity to give our young people the support they need.” James Hanson, who was interviewed likewise, is also trying to encourage schools to make a change. It is unfair and can result in pupils developing different mental health issues later in life. On average this year, due to lack of support, out of the 215,000 LGB pupils, 52,000 will frequently miss school, 70,000 will see their classwork suffer and 37,000 will change their education plans. Although the Government have discussed the topic briefly, we have still to witness any change, and until there is a change, the numbers with continue to increase. All we know is that they have a lot to do in order to improve young people’s comfort in school and their overall education
