The Great Gatsby is about nick carraway telling the story. The characters motivations are driven by their desire of money. Daisy marries and stays with Tom because of the lifestyle he can provide for her. She is all about money. F.Scott Fitzgerald is trying to teach us that money can’t buy you happiness. Gatsby tries to win daisy back with money ,Tom was old and many wanted to buy daisy's love, and Daisy wants to have a rich lifestyle with someone who can support her with all the money in the world and that is what makes her happy. First of all, Gatsby tries to win Daisy back because he knows that if he has money he is able to do so. Since he knows Daisy is all about money. Gatsby has that to offer to her. In the text it stated that , “Her voice is full of money,” he said suddenly (120). This quote represents how Gatsby already know how Daisy is all about money ,and he thinks that's his advantage of winning her back. As shown, Gatsby has known Daisy since years ago. At the end both wasn’t happy with each other. Tom and Daisy immediately describes them as rich, bored, and privileged. In the text it stated that, “They had spent a year in France, for no particular reason, and then drifted here and there unrestfully wherever people played polo and were rich together”(6). Daisy only begins her affair with Gatsby after he revealed how wealthy he was. He used what he learned of the wealthy society to first charm Daisy, but after Gatsby return home and realizing Daisy was married and gone, he set out to earn enough money to win Daisy over.
