The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald that tell the story of the love triangle between Jay Gatsby, Daisy, and her husband Tom Buchanan. Jay and Daisy had a relationship before Daisy married Tom. Gatsby believed Daisy married Tom for money, so when he found out he decided to gain wealth so would be worthy of Daisy Buchanan and finally be with her.
Jay Gatsby is an outcast because he is posing as “old money”, he pretends he is from high breeding and years of wealth. Gatsby is careful with what he tells people, he has created a totally new identity for himself as a wealthy man. His real name is James Gatz and is the son of Henery C. Gatz. His original encounter with wealth occurred when he was fishing and came across the millionaire Dan Cody who had docked his yacht in a dangerous part of Lake Superior. James warms him and

When Daisy goes to Gatsby's house we see his expensive shirts and clean mansion he uses to impress her. Gatsby fires his entire staff because they might talk about Daisy and how she is over often. This demonstrates respect for the risk she is taking to be with Gatsby, because she is stilled married to a different man. Tom grows suspicious and tensions grow between him and Gatsby. Eventually there is a confrontation during a group outing which ends up with Daisy leaving with Gatsby and Tom leaving with Jordan and Nick. This is what would make Daisy and outcast as well for leaving her husband. On the way home Daisy hits Tom's mistress Myrtle with Gatsby’s car, and then she continues to drive. Gatsby takes the blame for Myrtle’s death, and Tom tells Myrtle’s husband that Gatsby killed her. Myrtle's husband kills Gatsby and he then commits suicide. He is an outsider because he will never be a part of the world Daisy needs him to be a part of, his belief that he could be is what killed him in the
