The ad that is globally know is on just about every Gatorade bottle you and I have probably ever seen. Most people know that if you’re dying of thirst, you don’t necessarily go for a water, you go for a Gatorade. You go for it because let’s face it, it tastes much better than plain water. Their claim (1) is that they replace the electrolytes your body uses while performing a strenuous activity.

Most people including myself have never really had an idea of what exactly is in Gatorade itself (2). The ingredients that mostly stood out were sodium citrate and mono potassium phosphate. Those basically translate to salt and potassium. Both sodium and potassium are forms of electrolytes. Sodium activates your thirst mechanism all while potassium
