Gasparetto

A mediumship is when a spirit of a deceased person uses a medium to communicate or create art with the living. They claim to be able to channel the spirits talents and abilities such as painting or drawing. A medium is said to be “imperfect” when the spirit’s higher level of talent is not transferred to the art or writing that is channeled. In other words, the ability of a spirit such as Rembrandt, when using the medium as a tool to create art, will not replicate the level of talent in his previous work.

While in a trance, Luiz Gasparetto channels the spirits. Then the spirits use Gasparetto as a tool to paint or draw without light or models. After watching several videos of Gasparetto (see below links), I believe he is channeling the spirits of famous artists. While drawing, he closes his eyes and even turns his head away from the drawing. His movements are precise, and at times, he uses both hands and feet in another. In one drawing, he drew and signed it upside down. Most of the drawings are completed within a few minutes which most of them should have taken at least a few hours or days. His work is very convincing in the videos. Even if he was a talented artist, he would need to look at his artwork as he created it.

I think the quotation at the end of the article means that science cannot prove or disprove mediumship; therefore, it is not understood nor accepted by the science community. They are not able to argue the facts though they disagree with mediumship. Although there are some fakes, I would be receptive to this practice until it can be

I believe that he embodies something different then all of the other artists I have studied thus far. As I was searching through the various pictures on the internet of his sculptures, I was truly stunned at how life-like they look. With each sculpture I looked at I took on a different set of emotion every time. When looking at the dead body one I instantly felt sad, disturbed, and a little dark and twisted. When I looked at “Ghost” I felt her pain and insecurity as it is written all over her face.…

Compare and Contrast Essay The two works of art that I have chosen to compare and contrast had me worried at first. I wondered if there were enough things to compare between the two. However, after evaluating Tsukioka Yoshitoshi’s Samurai Attacks Woman and Giuseppe Arcimboldo’s self portrait, I have come to find that they share many things in common; from medium to colour, I will discuss the vast array of contrasts as well as similarities. It helps first to describe the two pieces. The first one that caught my eye while perusing through the database was Tsukioka’s, which was created during the Meiji period of Japan.…

Art, Action & Revival by David S. Fetcho is definitely one of the most thought out and thoughtful articles that I have read on the church and theatre in a long time. Fetcho begins his article with stating that “in many ways, the world of art and the Christian church are parallel universes. Both are concerned with the goal of becoming the point of social, psychological and spiritual integration for individuals and for society as a whole.” He’s quite right of course, and goes onto how the church and theatre ought to be married in the dramatic arts. He argues for the idea that the Christian artist, though a hundred years ago would have been crucified in the Church, is valiantly attempting to “reclaim lost ground--reclaiming territory that has…

The following paper will examine two instrumental therapeutic approaches from a Jungian perspective. The first is the use of drawings in play therapy and the second is metaphors and how they can be applied and useful in a therapeutic context. Jungian Approach to Therapy Jung presented an analytical approach to counselling based on psychodynamic schools of thought rooted in the dependence of unconscious processes in psychological functioning, symbolic interpretations and indirect methods of psychological assessment. In capturing this man’s journey, the documentary brings to light two significant issues in the world of art. The first being the use of assistants to create artwork and the second being the instantaneous success of an artist; whom without the endorsements of already renowned and respected street artists would have never amounted to anything noteworthy. The artists that have inspired me the most so far in my work are Anselm Kiefer, the Chapman brothers and Monet. I first came across Anselm Kiefer and Monet when doing the painting module of our project; although Kiefer is more of a mixed media artist; I had been aware of their work previously however. I came across the Chapman brothers in one of our art history lectures and thought it could be quite interesting to see how their landscapes compare to the more classical painted landscapes. Monet was one of the forefront artists during the impressionism movement in the late nineteenth century. Monet rejected the classical styles of painting and took on his own much more expressive style choosing to enhance the colours he saw which make his work…

A metaphor is a word or phrase for one thing that is used to refer to another thing in order to show or suggest that they are similar. Artists use metaphor as a way to express their artwork in a meaningful manner, through object. An artwork/object has the potential to be anything that the creator decides it to be viewed as. Artists Alberto Giacometti and Andy Goldsworthy use the relationship between the drawing and the development of the three dimensional artwork.…
