Gases During The Holocaust

Improved Essays
During the Holocaust, Nazis put Jewish people into gas chambers. The Jewish people they killed first were the people who had mental and physical disabilities. They killed them first because the were deemed “unworthy of life” by the Nazis. The Nazis made six gas chambers, and put one in Bernburg, Brandenburg, Grafeneck, Hadamar, Hartheim, and Sonnenstein. In these chambers, they used pure, chemical manufactured carbon monoxide gas. They used the gases to form the “Final Solution”, to kill off all of the Jews. The Nazis made the jews “take showers” by putting them into a tight gas chamber, and had them raise their arms, so that more people could fit in the chamber, then they sealed it tight, so that the jews, or any of their victims, would suffocate.

Block 11 in Auschwitz I was located in the courtyard and was known as the “block of death”. This is where shootings, hangings, and starvations took place (Świebocka, Webber, and Wilsack).
