Energy is a necessity for all people living in America. There are many different ways of generating power, but they all have to follow the second law of thermodynamics. In such cases, they would either use the energy that is naturally around us such as air, water, and even nuclear. Some people stick to the more primitive methods such as coal burning. Which can release large amount of particulate matter and toxic gasses that inevitably contaminate the air around us. American Municipal Power Inc. had a station named Gorsuch Station which released tons of Sulfur oxides, Nitrogen Oxides, and particulate matter. Gorsuch station was a coal-fired power plant. Although they failed to obtain necessary permits and install controls for reducing their emissions, EPA was there to stop them from polluting our precious air with the help of the United States funding.
Air is free moving which means air from California has the potential to reach other neighboring states. Sadly, Sulfur oxides is also able to move freely with the help of winds. Sulfur oxides is gaseous and toxic. Sometimes this toxic gas can come from a volcano erupting and something like a ship at sea. The largest source would be from burning fossil fuels by power plants and industrial facilities.
