In the short stories Seventh Grade by Gary Soto and Charles by Shirley Jackson, their settings are very important to their plots. In the story Seventh Grade , It is a story about a kid and he has a crush on a girl that is in his class. It explains that if he wasn’t at a school when this was happening then the story would not turn out the way it did. In the story Charles it is a story about a little kid pretending to be someone else when he does all of these bad things in class. He is making up an excuse by saying that someone else did it and not him. If the author never went back from the house to the school then we would have known that there is no Charles.
