Gary Ridgway pled guilty to 48 counts of murder in exchange for a life sentence instead of the death penalty, avoiding a full trial. Some of the key factors that support my thinking in diagnosing Ridgway are; “strange inner experiences that differ greatly from the expectations of one’s culture, that lead to significant impairment in personal, occupational, or social functioning, and that form a pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others” (Plotnik & Kouyoumdjian, 2014).
He didn’t receive any treatment for any disorders. Ridgway was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole or release.
