Platt addresses the thought of how we can take back our faith from the American vision and how our lives will be radically changed when we view death as a reward. In the beginning of this book Platt brings up how our churches are making a nice middle class American Jesus. By this he means we made a materialistic Jesus who does not call us to give away anything or expect us. A Jesus who is okay with us being comfortable, balanced, avoiding danger and okay with us doing devotionals on our time, instead of daily time set aside.…

With little dialogue, “The Lifted Veil” is heavy with description. When Latimer recalls his entrance into Geneva, his physical description fits with the science fiction formal element, “dense physical description”; “When I was sixteen I was sent to Geneva to complete my course of education; and the change was a very happy one to me, for the first sight of the Alps, with the setting sun on them, as we descended the Jura, seemed to me like…

The detail reader and going over the presentations in class provided a well-clear instruction and illustration of what we need to do. Having a clear illustration helped me in knowing how a petition should look like, such as the format and how the sentences should be simple for the judge to read. In addition, having class time to work on client interviews or working in phrasing sentences was useful since I have problems with my sentences structure and having a clear and strong communication. Having a mock interview and a petition provided me an insight of what an actual interview will look like and how I would have to apply all the information given into the declaration. In regard to the workshops that were provided when I was in JS 140, the class helped me to experience how things will be when I meet with a client.…
