Garner-Hayfield High School is a coed public high school in Garner, Iowa. The school holds classes for students in grades 9 through 12 and there are about 400 pupils enrolled. There is a student to teacher ratio of 13:1. The student population gender divide is 51 percent male and 49 percent female. GHHS is part of the Garner-Hayfield Comm School District. State assessment results show a 94 percent proficiency in Mathematics and a 89 percent proficiency in English. It earned a bronze medal in US News & World Report National Rankings, and its graduation rate is 97 percent.

There is a full athletic program at GHHS with several sport teams for boys and girls. Boys' varsity teams include football, baseball, and wrestling. Girls' teams include volleyball, softball, and cheerleading. Other sports include basketball, cross-country, track and field, golf, and soccer. The city has a number of events and recreational facilities. It is known for its annual Duesey Days celebration, which centers around a 10K run. The celebration includes entertainment, a Miss Duesey pageant, a burger/hotdog family dinner in the park, food vendors, and a craft show. Garner has five area parks. These are Tourist Park, Reichart Park, Central Park, Ollenburg Park. Other facilities include a million dollar aquatic center, the Veterans Memorial Recreation Center that offers several sports programs for adults and children A pool and recreational area that sits next to the Aquatic Center has tennis courts, volleyball courts, a basketball court, picnic and play area. Garner also has a golf course,administered by the Garner Golf Course Foundation that includes a Pro Shop, practice facility, restaurant, and bar.
