The vision statement informs you that the company is dedicated to pushing the design of the products, ensure the quality of the products and give the best value to the customers.
In my current role at Garmin I am in charge of going to market with the new product that have been developed by the engineering department. I enjoy my job because I feel that I am the voice for the company in regards to the customers. The core of what I do is to listen not only to the customers but also listen internally to the engineers. By collecting all of this information I can then process it and feed it back to my team in order to develop a strategy and plan for selling.
My long term goal would be that I would want to be known as a great leader. A leader in both my professional life and also my personal life. This can be achieved if I continue to push my education academically but also push my opportunities. By continually looking to take on bigger responsibility and grow my coverage. The first is that there is increased completion in the segments of business that Garmin calls upon. Because of this it will promote the advancement of technology but Garmin will need to be prepared to act rather than react to the market changes. A current example of this would be in the fitness market. Garmin created this market 10 years ago and since then has been the unbeatable leader in the category of business. In the past year a new competitor has emerged and has taken the market by storm. Since then Garmin has been very reactive in their decisions which has had negative affect on market share.
Another area of the business that is affecting the future potential is the internal mixture of employees. The current landscape of employees stretches from fresh college graduates to seasoned technology veterans. Due to this ecliptic group of individuals there is no one solution for managing. Many of the managers throughout Garmin have backgrounds in engineering other than management. There are multiple individuals that are managing staff that do not know what they are doing. Due to this confusion many people are not happy and not producing the quality of work that they
