This paper summarizes the Gap analysis for U.S Customs and Border Protection Agency, one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the United States Department of Homeland Security. Currently, there exists a gap in the managing disasters and particularly emergency issues, terror, and support for the border employees. This gap analysis will analyze the discrepancy that exists between the organization’s current emergency response and their targeted status in the future. It is an important consideration for strategic performance and mission to use the tool and assess the overall success. Performing a gap analysis in the U.S Customs and Border Protection Agency will help determine whether they have achieved their mandate of managing borders and …show more content…
Gap analysis is a management tool that is used by an organization to identify discrepancies that have occurred in any process from business to technology. These areas of improvement do not only mean new enhancement but rather finding the GAP that exists and implementing some improvements(Jennings, 2000). The GAP analysis is mostly used to implement strategies that are implicit to improvement. Operation assessment needs to be carried out to know the current situation of the organization. It will start with a detailed assessment of the current company performance. This is because the majority of businesses look for benchmarking and best practices for other competitors in undertaking their Gap analysis. The U.S Customs and Border Protection (CBP)’s mandate include Secure America’s Borders and Strengthen the Border Patrol. In our context, these are the primary strategic goals expected to be implemented by the agency. In creating the GAP analysis of between the current organization situations on how they are strengthening the border patrol and secure America’s borders, there is need to make notes on each of the current
