Chicago Violence: Gangster Disciples vs Black Disciples
Chicago , also nicknamed " Chiraq" is the most dangerous state in America today . The murder and homicide rates are through the roof compared to any other state , in 2012 the number of murders was more in Chicago than in Iraq . This violence sparks on many occasions for many reasons , but a guaranteed majority of this is due to the wars between two rival gang affiliations , this is why my report is on the history , lifestyle , and battles of Gangster Disciples vs Black Disciples .
Gangster Disciples
The Gangster Disciples origins date back to the 1960s where Larry Hoover was just 13 years old involved in gang violence and wanted to be in other gangs , in particular the Supreme Gangsters …show more content…
The groups would be camped around Cabrini Gardens all day and night selling drugs , drinking , and doing GD things . Lots of turf wars would go on with secret members sneaking into to other buildings camped out all night to shoot at the rival gangs .The Gangster Disciples still live on today as one of the most dominant gangs in the midwest.
Black Disciples
The Black Disciples are the rival gang of the Gangster Disciples , created in 1966 by David Barksdale . They where apart of the GDs in a big group called BGD's but after Barksdale died, the group broke apart and started rivalries . In the 1960s they where known as Devil Disciples as part of 10 other sub sets of the BGD nation .
Later on ,led by Don Derty the Black Disciple gang was created after a break from Black - Gangster Disciples . At the same time the GD's came out of Englewood , eventually war started and conflict arose . Dozens of fights daily in Cabrini Gardens with semis and automatics shooting back and forth . Today , the BD vs GD rivalry is still well and alive with hundreds of murders happening in Chicago . The beef really ignited when BD rapper Chief Keef was in conflict with GD rapper Lil Jojo , which caused him to make a diss song titled "3hunnak" which means 300 killers (300 is the block where Black Disciples come from , "k" means killer) . Lil Jojo was killed a month after the song release . The heated gun battles and turf wars continue today , and by the looks of it will sadly not be stopping anytime
