The first Gangster Disciples date back to the 1960s. The current leader of the group is Larry Hoover and has been since 1974. The story starts when hoover was born November 30, 1950 in Jackson, Ms where stayed until he was four. In 1955 at the age of four him and his family moved to chicago. By 1964 he was thirteen and decided he wanted to be apart of a gang called the supreme Gangsters, which resided on the city’s southside(68th and Green) where he stayed. In 1965, on the first day of his sophomore year he was kicked out because he was shot in the thigh by a rival gang member. After being kicked out of school, he took on the life of extortion from gamblers, hookers, and drug dealers. It wasn’t long before hoover became the leader of the supreme Gangsters. …show more content…
Eventually Hoover formed a Gangster’s Nation and beginned to take over several gangs in the Englewood neighborhood. Some of these gangs included The Supreme Gangsters ( the main branch of the Gangsters main), imperial gangsters, Maniac Gangsters, Outlaw Gangsters, etc. During the 1960s the Gangster Nation was expanding yet still behind the development of the Black Disciple and Black P. Stone Rangers, but Hoover and Barksdale had a good relationship. The leader of the Black P. Stone, Jeff Fort, offered Hoover a position as an ambassador which was a less position than the one he had with his gang. Fort offered to rename Hoovers gang Gangster Stones, the offer was declined. Instead in January of 1969, Hoover and Barksdale joined forces and formed the Black Gangster
