These gangs are Hispanic based and have been linked to the Mexican Mafia with charges of racketeering, extorting money from drug sales, and conspiring to kill rivals. We know these organizations exist and operate because of the ever increasing crime rates and death tolls. These gangs operate widely in low income Latino neighborhoods, which raises the opinion that maybe if we supplied these neighborhood with better socioeconomic success, these people would be able to flourish in a law abiding community. For plenty of these people, they see the gang as the only solution, which brings about a moral ambiguity as to whether or not there is any means or motive behind these crimes. By creating a specialized program for these individuals, that will hopefully lift them from economic trouble, it allows them a new understanding of the world they live in. However, a group of rich kids that like to mess up people's stuff for fun isn't a gang. The biggest defining aspect of a gang is that it is in response to a socioeconomic inequality. It's the result of inadequate means of success which those rich kids do have. The power imbalance between these groups define the difference between a gang and privileged ignorant criminals.
The media is a big source of aggression and violence today. However, studies have shown the affect of this aggressive content lasts only up to an hour. This does not mean someone could not do something violent within a short time frame, it just means as that the audiovisual cues that the brain receives does not contribute to long term violence unless there are more constant triggers.
