Gang Violence Proposal Paper

In order to find out if the above methods to help stop gang violence will actually work we will be conducting an experimental type of research. They will need to be put in action in the form of conducting research to see how effective the proposed methods above would be. First we would need to gather a sample size of children that would be the most at risk to join a gang. In order for our data to be accurate we would need to have a large sample size. We would gather about 100-200 at risk children from the city to be in our study. These kids would have to be around the ages of 12 to 14 and out of grade school. They would most likely come from single parent homes where the father or mother is no longer in the picture. They will also most likely come from low income families where the single parent works a lot to support their children. We will also divide them as to their race, we will have an equal amount of White, Black, Hispanic, and Asian children in our study to see if one group is more prone to join a gang than the other. …show more content…
During this time we will make sure and expose them to the programs that aim at keeping them off the streets and in schools and away from the drugs and violence. We will use programs such as D.A.R.E. and after school programs like big brothers and big sisters so that they know of the dangers of using drugs and so they have interaction with other kids after school in a safe and heathy environment.
