Gang Violence has been an issue for many years in and out of Philadelphia. But as the years past its happening more frequent in Philadelphia. The reason why I chose gang violence in Philadelphia is because every year Philadelphia’s violence, crime, murder and homicide rates increases and most of the time the culprit is from Gangs. Also I live in Philadelphia and Gangs have a huge effect in and out of the city, it is getting out of hand and someone’s got to do something about it and speak up. (If it can get fixed in other parts of the region that is good to.) There are so many ways to prevent gang violence. But the first thing that we can do to prevent gang violence is educate and inform ourselves on what the …show more content…
It’s been over 65 homicides in Philly so far, 10 percent above the tally for the same time in 2013, this was taken from the most recent data from the Philadelphia Police Department. It would be a drop if we start first with ourselves and it will help not to increase the rate. On the news about a couple of days ago a 16 year old girl waiting by the bus stop had been shot and killed by a gang member. The gang member was arrested and said that the shot fired wasn’t meant for her. A clear example on why such violence should be stopped. Another way can prevent gang violence is seeing if you see unusual or suspicious behavior or activity in a person or in a group and if there is something peculiar call someone that enforces the law like police.
