The study of gang involvement and incorporation can be seen as a major prominent social issue in today’s society. Gang crime has been seen as an ongoing threat to society that eventually affects all citizens. Whether it is the victims, the community at stake, or even the taxpayers; gang crime and violence has a direct correlation to society at hand. It Is essential to acquire a better understanding relating to why many individuals turn to gang involvement, as well as the sociological reasoning’s that influence it. Gang crime cannot be a problem that is left unchecked. Research and analysis must be created and analysed in order to signify and breakdown the cause for this large wave of individual’s joining gangs. It is in society’s best interest to ratify the situation in order to obtain and uphold new forms of deterrent measurements. This paper will be using a sociological perspective to better understand the motivational reasons behind individuals conforming in gang involvement. It is significant in the study of crime and criminal justice due to it allowing criminologist and sociologist to study the impact and causes of gang crime.
