In every state and city there is always those type of neighborhoods that we consider or label as bad and dangerous. But what makes these cities so dangerous? Is it the people that settle in the neighborhood that makes them dangerous or the way media portrays them with the violence and segregations of organizations such as gangs and the crime rates? We see this occurring all around the world marking gangs as the number one problem to the situation. As a result we see many laws emerging across the country that focus on the gang “social problem”. Racailization played a major role in neighborhoods such as the Cadillac-Corning neighborhood and the Playboy Gangster Crips consisted of low income and people of color. Gang injunctions can be similar to a restraining order enforced to individual gang members and at times the whole gang, from coming into contact and participating activities within a specific bordered target are. Whether or not you were a gang member and meet the requirements that stereotyped one or had any type of connection or affiliation with any gang member you were still considered as one to law enforcement. As gang injunctions were enforced safety zones were established around the target areas where gang members can only do so much. The injunction forbids members varying from selling drugs or committing vandalism, carrying a weapon or affiliating/disturbing the public view with other gang members, and other legal activities ( jstor effect). Its is home to a population of around 85,000 individuals and concisely predominant to Cuacuasions and Hispanics, yet today, we recognize Whittier as home to several different gangs and one of many dangerous cities. It wasn't for the year of 2008 where police filed and enforced a gang injunction on one of the oldest gang, The Whittier Varrio Locos. The Whittier Varrio Locos gang consisted of 46 members at the time where given the opportunity to represent themselves in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Feberaury 2nd to defend themselves from the actions that they were being implemented againist. If the judge felt the evidence was well established and had enough cause to approve a gang injunction on the gang, which did pass, Whittier Varrio Locos had a set curfew and restrictions by law enforcement officials not being allowed to hang out in the streets pass 10 o'clock pm or around certain locations of Whittier ( whittier daily). The law made it clear that they were not permitted to do any activities such as throwing up gang signs, selling drugs, coming into close distance around certain stores and corners, tagging and prohibiting member to wear clothing that had some identification of their gang. on the block of Painter Avenue to the East, Beverly Boulevard to the North, Pickering Avenue to the West, and Whittier Boulevard to the South ( whiter
