Our artistic society paints the desire of materialism with golden yellow, the glory of reputation with crimson red and the dream of pleasure with optimistic turquoise. However, the only actual color we are allowed to use is grey and its shades. The pale picture of a subway train heading home in the rush hours is usually sketched with exhaustion under the lifeless tones of pressure and apathy. Even though there are newspapers, novel books, even fashion magazines available, under the tensions of sluggish after-work time all will eventually end up with tedium. The monotonous “movie” goes on until a sudden opening sound of a Nintendo DS, a portable gaming device, which signals the presence of technology from decades of science development and invention. The appearance of a Nintendo does not change any color of the person’s reality but instead, paints the picture of another world for that individual to vanish into. However, this “reality escaping” solution becomes controversial with the majority of criticisms and prejudices that are piling up against the popularization of video game and further development of the virtual world.
