The 2008 elections broke down many barriers for minorities in the United States; the word minority is referring to women and black people. This was the first time a woman, Sarah Palin was chosen as a running mate for vice-president as well as the first election where a black man, Barack Obama became popular enough to win the presidential race. The movie Game Change is a non-fiction film that follows Barack Obama’s opponent John McCain as he is running his campaign and the choices his campaign officials chose for him along the way. McCain’s chief public relations officials made many decisions along the way, some helpful and some detrimental to his campaign, which ultimately led to John McCain’s loss again Barack Obama. John McCain’s public relations team had many tactics during his campaign year, they wanted to be bold and stand out against Obama because he was becoming a superstar all over the world during his campaign, they also wanted to make an emphasis on putting the country first, and McCain did not want to personally attack Obama–as that was not his …show more content…
He lost key swing states, Ohio and Pennsylvania, where he should have won. The public relations team should have done a better job researching Sarah Palin, because all of this could have been avoided. John McCain had the support of Republicans before Sarah Palin, but as seen at the end of the movie, most Republicans did not feel comfortable voting for him because she was his Vice President pick; someone with little to no knowledge on foreign policy, basic American history, and a strong right-winged lifestyle. John McCain’s public relations team failed him, he could have competed against Barack Obama if he could have picked a more reliable Vice President pick, but instead he trusted his campaign officials and was dealt a bad hand of
