Galveston Island is a barrier island located on the Texas Gulf Coast, approximately 50 miles southeast of Houston. With the Gulf of Mexico to the east, Galveston Bay is to the west, which connects Galveston’s harbor with the Gulf and Intracoastal Waterway.
