People are emotional beings with a tendency to experience and speak of conflict emotionally, or as Bodtker and Jameson put it, conflict is a fundamentally emotionally created and driven process (p.272). Galtung’s Triadic theory of Conflict Formation and Transformation is a very useful approach to analyzing conflict and managing it well in organizations. He theorizes that conflicts people have are born out of emotions we have towards certain events. Being that Galtung says behavior is the most obvious element I will start there. It's more important to get to the bottom or root of a conflict by assessing the attitudes, behaviors and contradiction elements that are present if conflict is present. It's making me see that resolving this one issue is not my goal; my goal needs to be much larger, finding the root of this conflict and learn how to hear one another. I need to be attentive to the possibility that some of my preconceived ideas about why we are in conflict are incorrect if we are going to transcend this
