As this analysis said, it shows the percentage preferring saving is increasing year by year. One of the reasons why they do like to save money is they do not have a specific thing they want to get. They save money until they find the thing they want to get or need to buy. This shows that Americans prefer to save or spend, and that is not same to measure actual spending and saving.
